Ramon Reyes, MD
Medical Director, Principal Investigator
Dr. Reyes was raised in Puerto Rico and graduated from University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez Campus and received his medical degree from Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences in 1985.
He’s been a Family Practice Physician for over 30 years and proud owner of his own clinic from 2000 to 2022, Bandera Family Medical Group, which began as a small clinic in Helotes, Texas and grew into three locations. In 2022, it became a part of the nationwide Village Medical and he is currently their Medical Director for San Antonio.
Dr. Reyes is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and has been voted by the City of San Antonio as Best Family Practice Physician. He was a Board Member of Star Net Primary Research Network for 8 years. Since 2012, he has been the principal investigator for BFHC Research, where he leads and participates in national clinical trials. Dr. Reyes also served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University Health Science Center for 18 years and to this day continues to train and mentor residents and students. Since 2017, he has been on the Methodist Healthcare Community Board and is an advisory board member of Sanofi and Astrazeneca Pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Reyes is fluent in English and Spanish and is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel. He is a dynamic natural leader and through his meritorious service has driven his company into a high standard and success. His leadership pushes his staff and patients to continually improve. He actively listens to his patients and applies the best effort to provide the best care for them. He is selfless, empathetic, determined and approachable by all. These standards were created through his years of hard work, dedication and patience.
He enjoys traveling with his wife, Mildred, and eating her good cooking. His hobbies include reading, live music, scuba diving, riding his sail boat and caring for his horses.
