Dr. Luis Alberto Mendez Rodriguez, IMG
Dr. Luis Mendez, IMG, was born and raised in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico. He received his medical degree from the University of Monterrey in 2017 and was a general practitioner for nearly 3 years in Mexico.
During his schooling, he committed to having many clinical positions such as Orthopaedic & Plastic surgery, Urology, Otorhinolaryngology, Cardiology, and Pulmonology at the different locations of IMSS (Mexican Social Security Institute) High Specialty Medical Hospital. He also worked with patients at the Psychiatry General Hospital and General Surgery at Mexican Institute for Workers Health Hospital.
In San Antonio, Texas, 2015, he completed his clinical internship rotations at the Methodist Hospital in the medical center. These rotations covered many fields, such as: Emergency Medicine, Oncology, general surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric cardiology, MOHS Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive surgery.
Dr. Mendez worked as a Research Assistant through 2013 to 2015 with Dr. Francisco Gonzalez conducting research on prostatic small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (PC-3 cell line) with emphasis on possible cytotoxic agents and the impact in normal cell function. Afterwards he worked as a research coordinator at the University of Monterrey for one year in 2016 and in 2020 with Dr. Irene Meester, conducting a study on pain neuro transmission through the nervous system and the role in fibromyalgia.
He started at BFHC Medical Group in the Bone Health Department on May 2021 as a Patient Care Coordinator and joined BFHC Research in March 2022. Dr. Mendez very knowledgeable and is empathetic to our patient’s needs.
On his spare time he enjoys biking, live music, playing the drums, cooking and searching the best food spots around and is committed to keeping close and traveling to his family in Monterrey.
