San Antonio Physicians Encourages the Community to Give Back this Holiday Season by Getting Involved in Clinical Trials

Bandera Family Health Research speaks on the importance of clinical trials and how to get involved this holiday season.

San Antonio, TX – The holidays are a time of giving. Although clinical research may not be your first thought for giving back, volunteering for a clinical research study can help impact lives and future generations.

Now more than ever, the importance of clinical trials is at the forefront of our minds. Physicians at Bandera Family Health Research are urging the community to consider participating in clinical trials this holiday season.

“With COVID-19 weighing heavily on our minds, it’s important now more than ever, to come together and advance medicine,” says Dr. Ramon Reyes, Chief Medical Director at Bandera Family Health Research. “We need the support of the community to help find better, more effective treatments for COVID-19.”

A clinical trial’s goal is to determine if treatment, surgical, or behavioral interventions are safe and effective. There are many benefits to participating in the clinical research process.

  1. Participants may have access to a medication before it is widely available to the public.
  2. Care from board-certified physicians and medical staff are provided at no cost.
  3. Insurance is typically not a requirement.
  4. Participants may have access to already FDA approved medications and testing supplies.
  5. Compensation is provided to those who qualify to take part in clinical research.

“Participating in COVID-19 research can make a huge impact on people’s lives and help accelerate medicine,” says Dr. Reyes. “Together, we can make that change.”

Bandera Family Health Research has multiple COVID-19 trials accepting applicants and are urging the community to consider participating this holiday season. You can browse currently enrolling trials by visiting the Bandera Family Health Research website at
