Ramon Reyes, MD

Dr. Reyes is the Medical Director and owner of the Bandera Family Medical Group. He has been a Family Practice Physician for over 30 years and has been the proud owner of his own clinic since 2000, when he opened his first clinic in Helotes, Texas. In 2007, due to patient growth and demand, Dr. Reyes opened his second clinic on 1604. Most recently, in 2017, he opened a third Bandera Family Medical Group clinic at Heart Plaza, next to TexSan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Dr. Reyes has been voted by the City of San Antonio as Best Family Practice Physician. He was a Board Member of Star Net Primary Research Network for 8 years. Since 2012, he has been the principal investigator for BFHC Research, where he leads and participates in national Clinical Trials. Dr. Reyes also served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University Health Science Center and to this day continues to train and mentor residents and students. Dr. Reyes is an advisory board member for Sanofi and AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Reyes graduated from Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico where he grew-up. Dr. Reyes is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. and is fluent in Spanish and English. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Mildred Zayas MD

Mildred Zayas, MD

Clinic Administration and Owner

Mildred Zayas is the Chief Executive Officer of Bandera Family Health Care and BFHC Research and, together with Dr. Reyes, founded BFHC in June of 2000. She has served as the clinic administrator since it opened. She is a Pediatrician with a medical degree from the School of Medical Sciences in San Juan, PR. (1987) and in 1990 she completed her Pediatric training in Caguas, PR. She practiced medicine for 4 years in Brownsville, TX before making the choice to be stay-at-home mother to raise her two beautiful daughters. Dr. Zayas enjoys time with family, reading, and traveling.

Imelda Higle

Imelda Higle

Research Administration

Imelda Higle is the Executive Assistant at Bandera Family Health Care and BFHC Research and has been a member of our team since 2010. Mrs. Higle has over 30 years’ experience as an Office Manager. She previously worked in the Civil Engineering and Surveying field. For the past 23 years she has worked as the Wardrobe Mistress at a local dance studio. She loves spending time with family, helping others and doing jigsaw puzzles. She is the proud mother of her daughter Nicole, a fighting Texas Aggie Graduate.

Harvonya Perkins

Harvonya Perkins, BS, CCRC

Director of Clinical Research

Harvonya Perkins has been working in clinical research since 2007. In 2010, she became a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) by the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). Since then, she has been active in the leadership of the Greater San Antonio Chapter ACRP by serving as secretary and an educational speaker.

Keith Beck MD

Keith Beck, MD


Dr. Beck joined BFHC Research in 2012. Dr. Beck has 25 years of practice in Emergency Medicine and has been a member of our Acute Care Staff since 2012. Dr. Beck received his Medical Degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He completed his Residency at Methodist Hospital of Dallas and Wake Forest University, N.C. Dr. Beck is also a 20 year veteran retired from the US Marine Corp. Dr. Beck enjoys classical guitar, BONSAI (Dwarf Tree) horticulture, woodworking and fine cabinet making in his free time. He is an avid runner and enjoys staying physically fit. He also holds an 8th degree black belt in judo and loves handball, racquetball, tennis, swimming and scuba diving.

Clinical Research Coordinator

Dr. Dominguez is an International Medical Graduate currently serving as a Clinical Research Coordinator, who aspires to start a residency in Internal Medicine. She joined BFHC Research in 2017 and has been a great addition to the team.

Mina Izem Toufik

Clinical Research Coordinator

Graduated as Clinical Research Coordinator from Northwest Vista College in 2012. Besides helping with our clinical trials, she is in charge of the laboratory where her primary focus is processing and shipping blood samples for all our trials. With a military and law background, she adds a special insight for following research protocols.

Brian Poliquin PA-C

Brian Poliquin, PA-C


Brian Poliquin, Physician Assistant, has over 15 years’ experience and joined BFHC Research in October 2012. He received his degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2001. He has been a member of the Acute Care and Clinic Staff at Bandera Family Health Care for over 5 years. Brian is the proud father of two children, one handsome boy and a beautiful girl; they are his pride and joy. When not providing care to his patients he loves being outdoors golfing.

Angelica Trevino MD

Angelica Trevino

Dr. Trevino is an International Medical Graduate, obtaining her medical degree from Tecnologico de Monterrey School of Medicine. During her Medical studies she was involved in the development of Chronic Care Programs for Adults in a small rural community called Ejido Puerto Rico, Carmen, Mexico. She joined BFHC Research in 2018 and, with her experience in Patient Care Coordination and Medical Data Mining, has been a proud member of the team serving as a Clinical Research Coordinator.
