Ramon Reyes, MD

Dr. Reyes is the Medical Director and owner of the Bandera Family Medical Group. He has been a Family Practice Physician for over 30 years and has been the proud owner of his own clinic since 2000, when he opened his first clinic in Helotes, Texas. In 2007, due to patient growth and demand, Dr. Reyes opened his second clinic on 1604. Most recently, in 2017, he opened a third Bandera Family Medical Group clinic at Heart Plaza, next to TexSan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

Dr. Reyes has been voted by the City of San Antonio as Best Family Practice Physician. He was a Board Member of Star Net Primary Research Network for 8 years. For the last 7 years, he has been the principal investigator for BFHC Research, where he leads and participates in national Clinical Trials. Dr. Reyes also served as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University Health Science Center and to this day continues to train and mentor residents and students. Dr. Reyes is an advisory board member for Sanofi and AstraZeneca Pharmaceutical companies.

Dr. Reyes graduated from Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico where he grew-up. Dr. Reyes is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. and is fluent in Spanish and English. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice.

Mildred Zayas MD

Mildred Zayas is the Chief Executive Officer of Bandera Family Health Care and BFHC Research and, together with Dr. Reyes, founded BFHC in June of 2000. She has served as the clinic administrator since it opened. She is a Pediatrician with a medical degree from the School of Medical Sciences in San Juan, PR. (1987) and in 1990 she completed her Pediatric training in Caguas, PR. She practiced medicine for 4 years in Brownsville, TX before making the choice to be stay-at-home mother to raise her two beautiful daughters. Dr. Zayas enjoys time with family, reading, and traveling.

Imelda Higle

Imelda Higle is the Executive Assistant at Bandera Family Health Care and BFHC Research and has been a member of our team since 2010. Mrs. Higle has over 30 years’ experience as an Office Manager. She previously worked in the Civil Engineering and Surveying field. For the past 23 years she has worked as the Wardrobe Mistress at a local dance studio. She loves spending time with family, helping others and doing jigsaw puzzles. She is the proud mother of her daughter Nicole, a fighting Texas Aggie Graduate.

Raul Rubio MD

Dr. Raul Rubio joined Bandera Family Health Care and BFHC Research in August 2017. Dr. Rubio is a Foreign Medical Graduate pursuing a residency in the medical field and also has a Bachelor of Science of Information and Communication, with a focus in journalism. He is an enthusiastic entrepreneur, passionate about innovation and its application in health, and constantly in pursuit of new challenges that generate a positive social impact.

Dr. Diego Olvera

Clinical Research Coordinator

Diego Olvera is an international medical graduate working as a clinical research coordinator at the clinic. He perform the routine visits with the patients involved in the research studies and follows-up with them to ensure safety and medication compliance. He feels happy and honored to be part of the great BFHC Research team. Diego is currently pursuing a medical residency.

Clinical Research Coordinator

Ms. Perkins serves as a Clinical Research Coordinator and has been working in research since 2007. Since 2010, she has been active in the leadership of the Greater San Antonio Chapter of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals.

Keith Beck MD

Dr. Beck joined BFHC Research in 2012. Dr. Beck has 25 years of practice in Emergency Medicine and has been a member of our Acute Care Staff at BFHC for 7 years. Dr. Beck received his Medical Degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He completed his Residency at Methodist Hospital of Dallas and Wake Forest University, N.C. Dr. Beck is also a 20 year veteran retired from the US Marine Corp. Dr. Beck enjoys classical guitar, BONSAI (Dwarf Tree) horticulture, woodworking and fine cabinet making in his free time. He is an avid runner and enjoys staying physically fit. He also holds an 8th degree black belt in judo and loves handball, racquetball, tennis, swimming and scuba diving.

Dr. Dominguez is an International Medical Graduate currently serving as a Clinical Research Coordinator, who aspires to start a residency in Internal Medicine. She joined BFHC Research in 2017 and has been a great addition to the team.

Brian Poliquin, Physician Assistant, has over 15 years’ experience and joined BFHC Research in October 2012. He received his degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2001. He has been a member of the Acute Care and Clinic Staff at Bandera Family Health Care for over 5 years. Brian is the proud father of two children, one handsome boy and a beautiful girl; they are his pride and joy. When not providing care to his patients he loves being outdoors golfing.

Mrs. Tenorio recently graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington and currently serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been a nurse for over 6 years and an intermittent part of the BFHC staff since 2007.

David Dominguez PA-C

David Dominguez, PA-C

David Dominguez, Physician Assistant, joined Bandera Family Health Care in January 2010 and BFHC Research in 2012. He received his degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston, Texas in 2013. Prior to being a PA, he was the EMT of our Acute Care and Clinic Staff at Bandera Family Health Care for 1 year. During PA school, he did some of his rotations here at BFHC. David is a resident of Helotes and a graduate of O’Connor High School. David has three generations of family members that are patients here at BFHC. When not providing care to his patients, David loves being outdoors, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing soccer and hiking.
